The Ecology Service Learning Project or the “ESLP” is all about helping your community whether it is in the garden or creating food for your class to show them how to become more healthy through your daily life. Being able to help our school in this way allows the school to become more healthy by using the garden for putting a little update to our benches.
This year our group (Mason, Jordan, and Matthew) decided to build a bench for our school garden. Another reason why we did this was because at the beginning of the year we noticed that there were a lot of benches out on the campus that were either broken or they were on their way to becoming broken. So we thought that we would help out and build a strong bench that could withhold rain, ice, dirt, and humans. After a lot of trips to home depot we came up with a sturdy bench that will last a long time.
Some things that we experienced as a group was that you really need to focus on what you are planning on getting done and do it. One thing that we lacked on was focusing on the task that we picked so it was difficult getting the job done.
The effort that we put into this project was 100% we didn't take short cuts or try and rush it. We did it the right way and I guarantee you that this bench will be here for a long time. A lot of people will be using this over the years and I believe this will change many people's lives. When they get tired of standing our bench will be there so they can sit back and relax.
We really hope everyone enjoys this bench for this year and for future years. We had a great time building it! Thanks
